Adam and Eve's world changed in an instant, as soon as they had eaten the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, as recounted in Genesis chapter 3. Pastor Brian Larson said that we simply can't comprehend how different their existence suddenly became, newly conscious of self in a new way ... including their own nakedness which they tried to remedy on their own with fig leaves. But it was God who clothed them and showed how sins must be atoned for after the fall, foreshadowing right there in the first pages of the Bible the work of Jesus on the cross.
