Jacob pretends to be his brother Essau so that their father Isaac will give Jacob the blessing of the firstborn that traditionally would go to Essau. Jacob and Rebekah's conniving is a comical reminder to us to just let God fulfill His promises in His way, instead of "helping" Him out ourselves.
